Elliott Fisher and NASCAR Champion Eric Norris Post an Impressive Run in the 2006 SCORE Tecate Baja 1000
The 2006 SCORE TECATE Baja 1000 saw the likes of many NASCAR and Indy greats over the grueling week of preparation on hand in California... Elliott Fisher and Eric Norris were among them preparing to compete in the Hardin Racing GMC Pro Truck. The Duo set their sites on a top ten finish partner style splitting up the driving in the challenging 879 mile trek from California to Mexico over some of the toughest terrain in the country. Fisher would start the journey from downtown Encinada and hand over the truck to NASCAR Star and Partner Eric Norris at roughly the halfway point. "The first leg was unreal, i have never seen so many people and so many obstacles in my life"... Fisher pointed out that the Baja 1000 was as much about surviving as it was about finishing... "you really have to stay focused in order to keep the truck on pace, it seems around every corner lurks one potential unforeseen disaster after another... 17 hours of straight madness during Baja will test any Pro Drivers ability to stay focused and competitive, its the most amazing race I have ever been a part of. "Fisher's partner agreed with the above statements as the two fell on hard luck around mile marker 590 when Norris navigated the Pro Truck off course and down a 35 foot embankment ending their day. "It was a tough situation," said Norris, "You're trying to keep focused and it's pitch black out, lights are flashing and trucks are racing door to door... it's crazy... all of a sudden there is a quick right hander and you just don't have the time to react..." Norris and Fisher, both Road Racing Aces, were praised for their efforts and will most likely be back for '07 with another opportunity to tame what proves each year to be the toughest off road venue in the world.
